Ernest Bachrach (1899-1973) One of the most admired of Hollywood photographers, Bachrach started his career photographing the stars of the silent screen. He then spent a good part of his career running the photography department at RKO from 1929 until his retirement in the late 1950s. “If the player is a newcomer to the studio”, Bachrach said, “I must make my camera see his or her personality as the public will discover it on the screen many months hence.”
